This directive, issued by the Bureau of Archival Fastenings and Form Integrity, aims to standardise the presentation of submitted documents, preserve the structural integrity of filing systems, and reduce the risk of fingertip injuries or administrative misalignment.

Improper stapling — whether vertical, horizontal, or involving multiple fasteners — may lead to minor lacerations, jammed filing drawers, or complications during automated processing.

Only a single staple placed at a 45° angle in the upper-left corner is considered compliant with current protocol.

Documents stapled incorrectly will be returned unprocessed. The use of paperclips, adhesive materials, plastic fasteners, or other improvised solutions is strictly prohibited, except where formally authorised under Annex D of Directive 4.2.

Users are encouraged to consult the official stapling diagrams posted near all photocopiers and available on the internal portal.

A correctly placed staple is more than a technical requirement — it is a gesture of respect for the file, the handler, and the administrative order at large.
