The Office of Attire and Appearance has issued Directive 12‑C outlining updated standards for official consular dress. The revised code comes into force immediately and applies to all categories of personnel during public-facing duties, ceremonial functions, and controlled photographic situations.

Notable updates include:

  • Standardised lapel width (4.2 cm ± 0.1 cm), replacing previous regional variations.
  • Redesigned service insignia, now embroidered using a new satin-thread palette (Directive 12‑C, Appendix B).
  • Optional reinforced collar stays for Level IV personnel and above.

The directive also reaffirms the prohibition on visible non-regulatory accessories (bracelets, novelty pins, unapproved footwear), as well as the longstanding ban on short-sleeved jackets regardless of climate.

Tailors accredited by the Ministry are being briefed. Personnel undergoing uniform adjustment are granted a transitional compliance window of five working days.

Infractions will be recorded under Category D (Presentation and Bearing). Repeated non-conformity may result in temporary reassignment to back-office duties.
